Larger Shielded Room

18/9/05 After many months of assembly the shielded room at Emc Test Lab has been increased in size by 50% to 3.6m length. Calibration has been carried out and the room declared operational. This will mean better testing quicker with less time spent in the rain on the Open Area Test Site. Panels to extend the shielded room came from Hobart from a similiar Belling-Lee room used in Tasmania. The larger room has some ferrite panels to damp the reflections. It seems to work well up to a size of about a 500mm cube test item.

Coming soon- another shielded room for immunity tests and conducted emission testing.

Shielded Room with 3 phase power.

A shielded room with 3 phase and single phase power is now functional and is suitable for conducted emission tests and immunity testing. The room size is 2.4 by 2.4 by 1.2 m.

This room is available for hire if you wish to do some measurements yourself.

Improved Shielded Room Performance- Both shielded rooms are now linked by a conduit so that control computers and similiar equipment can be isolated from the equipment under test but still pass serial data to equipment under test.

Shielded Room Upgrade- The 3.6m shielded room has been fitted with more ferrite and calibrated with a LAPLACE Emission Reference Source that has calibration traceable to international reference standards. The result gives very good measurements up to about 400Mhz with fair results up to 1GHz. This makes the room ideal for lighting measurements up to 300MHz. An additional spectrum analyzer, a Hameg HM 5014, has been obtained for scanned measurements.
